canalforall
We will be holding our Festival at Staveley Town Basin, S43 3XZ, on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th May 2016 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will be combined with the Inland Waterways Association National Trailboat Festival. Admission will be £3, free for Under 12s. Free parking nearby; limited disabled parking onsite. The whole site is accessible to wheelchairs. Two of our tripboats have wheelchair lifts. We will have all four of our tripboats and lots of entertainment, attractions and caterers. We will be opening the new Staveley Town Lock, built by our volunteer Work Party, and a further 300 yards of canal beyond it. Highlights will include an illuminated parade of boats on the Saturday night and a convoy right up to the River Rother at St Helena’s on the Monday. The main difference between the recent Canal Festivals held at Staveley and this one will be the number of boats. It is expected that dozens of trailboats will be moored in the basin and back towards Constitution Hill Bridge. Many will be decorated, creating a really colourful spectacle. The Festival will include boat rides, canoeing, children’s rides, plenty of entertainment, dozens of stalls plus food and drink including a Real Ale bar. Already booked are Learn to Drive a Digger, Bubble of Fun, Boats of Fun, Carz of Fun, Belly Dancers, Fire Eaters, a Ukulele band, Black Pig Border Morris and five bands. Email festival@chesterfield-canal-trust.org.uk or ring 01246 477569 for further information or if you would like to have a stall or bring a boat. canalforall
I and my husband are organizing The Chesterfield Canal Festival 2016 Raffle as we did in the past. We approached many companies/businesses, unfortunately the response for this year Festival raffle is very weak - we have received only 1 prize at the moment. Therefore I would like to ask you - if you are business owner/manager - would you be willing to donate an appropriate prize for our Festival raffle? All proceeds will go to the Canal restoration and will be acknowledged in our Cuckoo magazine and website too. We need to have the main prizes by 25th Jan as we need to print the raffle tickets but we welcome any prizes also after this date. Many thanks!
