Retrieve lost data

Hashtag

Recommended Posts

I've stupidly reinstalled Windows 8 (a fresh install)but I've deleted /formatted the partition were all my files were,is there any chance I can get it back? I didn't back anything up.

I've tried some software that is meant to retrieve it but no luck.

Thanks in advance.

Did you just format it or format it, or format it then install software on the same partition?

If you've formatted it but nothing else then you should be OK. Download recuva..

Saved me before!

If you have installed windows on the same partition then you are probably screwed! Try recuva but don't get you hopes up!

If it is a boot drive you would be better off taking it out and trying to recover the data on another machine.

It also depends if its a hard drive or an SSD/eMMC.

A hard drive you may be able to recover some files, but you will need somewhere else to recover them to or you will just end up further wiping those files if you try to recover them to same device.

If its an SSD/eMMC there is zero chance of recovery however.
