Kidorry
My alarm started to beep at 30 second intervals this morning so I took it down to replace the batteries and I saw on the side of the alarm "to be replaced after 8 years".Is this just the batteries, or the whole unit due to wear of the sensor? 999tigger
Surely it should say. If it meant the batteries it would say so imo. Do batteries last 8 years? Have you googled the manufacturer.
tzijlstra
It is the whole unit Kidorry, the lifespan of the sensor is only guaranteed for those 8 years. Good for you to have them by the way, too few people do still.
smithy266
Yep, whole unit. And apparently, the old ones should not be put in the bin, but disposed of 'properly'. the gas board replaced ours last week when they serviced the boiler. Every home should have one! I'm just wondering where you would dispose of one 'properly'...I'd probably just oik it in the bin along with the batteries. (Puts tin hat on) presumably it counts as electronic waste so youd have to look at the aviva site for a suitable recycling centre. Bet most people just bin them. smithy266
Fraid I can't answer that one, it is just what the gas bloke told me.

Bet most people just bin them. I'm sure some people 'recycle' their spent batteries, and take them to a local shop (Tesco's or wherever) where there's a box to put them in. I'm afraid I don't, they just go in the bin with the rest of the rubbish.

Possibly, but there isn't, so I won't. hahaha...I remember the days of going round the back of the pub and nicking the empty pop bottles and taking them around the 'offy' for the deposit...Happy days...
