megalithic   10 #4 Posted December 30, 2015 But if he's carrying it in a car? More info needed before I can recommend anything. I own a scarp 1(amongst others) imported from america at a cost of over £300 that i use for back packing. When out with the car its a £50 jobby from GO. The terrain he'll camp in is also to be considered.
 Share this content via...

butlers   261 #6 Posted December 30, 2015 The Argos proaction tent is surprisingly well made. I have one ,backpacked with it.Also have a vango mk1 featherweight but only use that if heading really out into the wilds.
 Share this content via...

Cyclone   10 #8 Posted December 31, 2015 Backpacking doesn't mean wild camping.  Remember that a 2 man tent won't really fit 2 except as a real squeeze. And a 1 man will only fit 1 at a squeeze :-)
 Share this content via...
megalithic   10 #9 Posted December 31, 2015 If you went for something like the Wild Country Zephyros 1 it would cover you on most trips, either with the car or hiking. They're good little tents for the money and will stand up to most of what our weather can throw at you.
 Share this content via...
hagrid   10 #10 Posted December 31, 2015 Check the Decathlon and Go Outdoors web sites, at this time of year there should be loads of offers. Don't get a festival type tent go a bit more up market.  They are not that dear nowadays.  ---------- Post added 31-12-2015 at 16:10 ----------  Just seen this tent  http://www.decathlon.co.uk/lauder-400-4-man-family-tent-id_8347523.html
 Share this content via...
whitebaby   10 #11 Posted January 3, 2016 When do you want to go camping? If you want to buy a 2 man tent, you need to buy a tent that fit 3 man.If you camping for more than one day,you had better select a waterproof tent.I also like camping,as to me,waterproof is the most important to me.
