When we insult someone, we tend to gravitate towards the lowest common denominator, especially if it's as a result of a sudden, personal attack. Children are ace at this, hence the use of the most obvious visual characteristics, eg, colour, sex, size. Unfortunately, adults fair little better. I much prefer a more subtle approach, but, at times, any port in a storm.

think of the superglue and car door locks, then you'll be on the right track.

Cyclone - I remember you getting very wound up on a recent thread about the mere thought of criminal damage being done to a vehicle.

In light of that, the above sounds rather hypocritical.

It couldn't be that you have double standards?! :o

Probably just shows that I'd be more upset by personal insults directed at me than by being slightly inconvenienced by someone elses mistake.

You also appear to confuse knowing right from wrong and making a point with getting 'wound up'.

To cut a long story short I had a go at some bloke abusing the toddler bays at Morrisons the other day.It was very busy and we spotted this space, but on closer inspection it was reserved for people with small children.I backed out and within seconds a middle-aged man raced into the space who had no child.I noticed someone else waiting who DID have a child.I wound my window down and pointed out he shouldn't be using it.He told me to "F**k off you black b****rd".I actually laughed at first but later got really angry about it.A completely pointless use of words. Some people when they want to insult you just latch on to the easiest thing which is different about you.Whether you're black, white, slim or obese.Anyone else with similar experience?

ps. anyway I'm not black, i'm a chocolatey brown sort of colour.:loopy:

could be worse......you could have ginger hair......as for the "black" bit i wouldn't find this offensive at all....but the "*******" bit is slightly offensive so i think a quick head butt on the bridge of the nose would have been my course of action.if someone called me whitey thats what i am so its no big deal.

He may use the word black because you are...................Black.......

If you was fat he may have used the word ....fat

Think the point being made is they wouldn't have said white b******.

I agree with cloudybay. As you are black and the abuser had very little intelligence then that's the answer for you. Take it with a pinch of salt and you shoudl have told him to go forth too :D

So, you'd be more upset by someone personally insulting you, than them potentially risking the life of your child by their thoughtless, or perhaps even malicious, behaviour?

Funny sense of right and wrong you have.
