Disability Pass, Do I Have To Tell Bus Drivers It Is For My Carer Too?

I've just received my +Carer pass and I'm wondering if I have to tell the bus driver its a +Carer Pass?

 

I've had a regular disability pass for some time and wondered if the machine will tell the driver its +Carer

I have had a mixed reaction, some drivers just let us both on, some demand to see the pass

 

I wish Stagecoach, First and SYPTE could work together with things like this

I tell the driver as I present the pass (Or my companion travelling with me presents it, as that's often easier as its difficult to reach the scanner thing) that it's a "Plus 1 pass".
