Threads should auto lock after 5 years and auto delete after 10 years. (random arbitrary numbers) Keeps the database size down and speeds up the search function considerably.

I think that Sheffield Forum has a brilliant repository and archive of the recent social history of Sheffield and beyond. I personally wouldn't auto-delete stuff for that reason, there’s a huge (and largely unique) value to the forum in the future for that reason, I believe. 4 Sheffield Forum | The Sheffield Guide | The Sheffield Shop

OK so it’s about people what you work with (I work in a office in that bit near CITY CENTRE that juts off Derrick Dooly Way). Pacifically, it’s about when you see those ‘co-workers’ when your drunk off your head / out of the working environment. It’s weird when you think about it. I’ve seen these people I work with out down town drinking beer and that and they’ve done like a nod to me and some have said hello. Now that’d be OK if it was people what I worked with but it’s just random people what recognise me. WE WOULDN’T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE EACH OTHER AT WORK!! But because it’s out of work and they’re drunk they feel like they’ve got the right to make contact now. Even happened other week in OLD MONK PUB but it was kind of my fault that time. I saw a man I recognised and automatically started to nod and smile to say “hello there”, but then I realised it was a person me and my friends slag off so luckily I managed to twist the shape of my face round so my developing smile actually turned into a vicious grimace face thing. Then I looked away. How do you people deal with these orkward situations? Specifically”, not “pacifically”. The rest of the post makes perfect sense

It's been a long time since I played with Invision. Is it still able to auto archive/prune by section? Whilst you're probably right about being a source of local history, some sections, such as the I'm Bored and similar sections could probably utilise a shorter data. It's not like a 12 year archive of 'Been there not been there" type threads are useful 1

They also have a soft limit on the number of posts, as well as other indicators, before archiving across the whole forum and I suspect we’ve hit that too — but that number is hidden for some reason. The I’m Bored section is a good example of unnecessary posts causing problems for the whole site, but it seems to be mega popular with some folk (and keeps that kind of stuff away from other sections, fortunately). Have you ever considered a move to a CMS engined site?
