LOCAL PUBLIC BANKING - Talk - Monday 30th Nov.

Recommended Posts

Talk by POSITIVE MONEY, a campaign to create a money and banking system that works FOR society and not against it.

Local public banks (or municipal banks) are like credit unions but they have a banking licence - they are publically owned and the profits go to help society. Public banking is 40% of banking in Germany and 25% of banking worldwide, but it is almost non-existent in the UK.

In Germany there are public banks at local, regional and national level. All these banks are owned by the relevant governments and their profits go to help society. This has resulted in a very vibrant small and medium business sector - can we learn from their example?
