Hippogriff   10 #4 Posted November 22, 2015 Obviously user error on my part, but I tried caustic soda once on paint on a ceiling. First go I must have waterered it down too much as it did little, second time it was quite thick (and getting warm in the jug) and it eventually ate into the plaster underneath, causing it to bubble... resulting in more work for me overall. So I'm wary of it now.
 Share this content via...
jdamarine   10 #5 Posted November 29, 2015 A skarsten scraper is a good tool for removing paint. I think B&Q do a similar tool
 Share this content via...
iwbsheff   10 #6 Posted December 1, 2015 I found Kling Strip to be effective for getting old oil-based gloss off our bay window lintels.  http://www.stripperspaintremovers.com/products.htm  It was a mucky job though, and it's caustic stuff. Goggles and gloves essential.
 Share this content via...
