Area boundaries; advice please

Hi,

 

We're currently house hunting and wanted advice on boundaries of the various areas.

 

For example is there a definitive way to establish where Nether Edge ends and Carter Knowle starts upto where Millhouses begins.

 

I've tried to have a look around but unable to find anything definitive, any help/advice will be greatly appreciated.

Yes as the price (and the premium) between these areas for example varies so much. So if the house is on a boundary I'd want to ensure that the price reflects the actual area it is in.

Simple answer ... there are no definitive boundaries.

Google Maps will show you - search for the name of the area and it actually highlights the boundaries.

That's because Beauchief and Nether Edge are names of Electoral Wards which do have definitive boundaries.

 

The boundary of the Nether Edge Ward includes Carter Knowle.

 

You are talking about local area names for which there are no definitive boundaries and can be stretched by opinion.

However boundaries do change as does fashion.

In our postal address we only use Sheffield and our postcode as to put in any of the 3 areas we could justify that we live in would only confuse.

Surely you can determine what a fair price is based on sold prices nearby? All property websites now seem to have Land Registry prices so you can see what houses on the same street went for.

 

A lot of area names are essentially nonsense. All that matters surely is if you like the area you're looking at...

It might be worth looking at crime stats for areas too. This could reflect on futur house prices as they tend to plummet as crime goes up.
