Nagel   10 #1 Posted October 14, 2015 Driving along Ecclesall Road today I noticed a shop has opened selling motorised hoverboards. The same sort of thing that tripped up Usain Bolt.  http://www.ukswegways.com/  If you don't know them, there's this BBC news item with the presenter having a go.  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-34053740  Thoughts? Blackbeard   10 #2 Posted October 14, 2015 'Hoverboard' scooters are illegal to ride in public due to Segway rules, police say" http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/news/11926027/Hoverboard-scooters-are-illegal-to-ride-in-public-police-say.html Just be aware before you buy. Alcoblog   10 #3 Posted October 14, 2015 I don't see why they're illegal to use on pavements. You get cyclists, pram pushers (not watching where they're going) and wheelchair people doing it with impunity, the Segway's no more dangerous. I guess it's one of those rules that the police'll turn a blind eye to. It's probably safer on the road than a pedal bike too, due to the rider actually having to pay attention. I'd love a go on one, I must say!
 Share this content via...
Mr Bloke   1,445 #4 Posted October 14, 2015 Am I missing something?  I don't see much 'hovering' happening here...  So, not so much back to the future as back to the drawing board?
 Share this content via...
apelike   10 #5 Posted October 14, 2015 I guess it's one of those rules that the police'll turn a blind eye to.  I don't think so as someone a while ago got prosecuted for it.
 Share this content via...
