sgtkate   10 #49 Posted November 18, 2015 Is there really that much chance that he`d be "sprung" by an armed gang that it needs that expensive huge convoy causing so much disruption ? Wouldn`t the use of an (army type) armoured car be cheaper and cause less disruption ? And I`m only half joking ! ---------- Post added 18-11-2015 at 09:26 ----------   It`s the first time I saw it this morning, and there was no reference to it in any thread for the previous three hours, which was all I checked because I was unaware it`d been through regularly. If it causes all that disruption every day I`m now only a quarter joking that they should use an armoured car ! !  I'm fairly sure the prison van must be armoured? But they are worried about it getting stuck in traffic or stopped by other cars and broken into and the prisoners escaping than about someone shooting at it. I can`t see any number of villians springing someone from one of these ! We`ve just been talking about it at work, we reckon that part of the reason for all those convoys (at peak traffic time remember) is the cops like doing that escort type work, it makes them feel important. And yes OK, it must be good fun, but what about all the motorists who are held up for, let`s face it, not that good a reason.....
