High profile court case/police convoy?

Recommended Posts

Guest makapaka

Was stopped in my car at west bar today by two policeman with guns while the prison van and escort left the court buildings. There were other armed police up and down the street. Assume related to the same thing.

Looked quite sinister in the dark.

its a tactic the police have been using for years it creates a air of mystery and must be serious. it is used to quite good effect because the people facing the court usually get found guilty. some jurors (wrongly)believe that because of all the hype these people are guilty :suspect:.

Hi ricgem2002, like your words " .....some jurors ( wrongly ) believe that because of all the hype these people are guilty "

I'm not going to refer to which case was similar, other than to say some members of the jury had been influenced by what they read in the papers !

I guess they are concerned about associates of the suspects trying to spring them, it's a very heavy operation. If you are trying to get into the public gallery you might want to take your own lube in case they run out:o

I think it is from HMP Wakefield. I have seen a convoy leaving there most mornings about 8am, other than when I was delayed on the motorway, on which occasion it passed me on the M1 heading southbound.

I'd be surprised if it's the dereck dooley way shooting. Don't they usually have those hearings away from the city they happened in to cut the risk of a juror knowing the victim or the prosecuted?

For the past few weeks there has been a heavy police presence outside the rear of Sheffield crown court.

They tend to leave about 5:30-6 ish.

Last night there were: 8 Police bikes, 5BMW Police cars, 1 CCTV van, two armed police officers outside the gates and more officers inside the gates.

When they leave they are escorting a fully marked police armored jail van, nothing like the normal ones.

They don't look to be SYP officers either.

Any one have any idea who its all for?

Cheers :-)

It definitely is the Derek Dooley Way shooting. There was a thread on here when the police convoys first started a couple of weeks ago.

no the juror would give the clerk the information that they knew the defendant/s and would probably be excused jury service on this trial

There is more than one 'high profile' case ongoing at the mo as it happens -thats why there are additional armed officers on duty
