Butchers shop recommendations

Recommended Posts

Went for Sunday lunch in Penistone and had a tender and very tasty sirloin steak.

I asked where the meat came from and it was from Crawshaws butchers. They used to have a stall in the market but had the sense to quit and relocate to a shop almost opposite.

So thumbs up to them.

Careful, there are two "Crawshaws".

The one on The Moor is different to the one in Stocksbridge and Hillsborough, John Crawshaw is the quality butcher, Crawshaws is the cheap and crappy one

Second Simmonites! They've made it cheaper because they're on Division Street and it's full of students but the meat is top notch

Had a disappointing steak from there a month or so back. Also bought a pie that was frozen and they didn't tell me. What sort of independent butchers sells frozen pies FFS? All meat strikes me as Sunday market quality.

I recently tried this little stall place that sets itself up in the car park of that old Blue something pub in Hillsborough.

It sells loads of deals like £20 for 8oz steak, pork, mince and they do the mince right there.

I don't know what it's called but it was a good service and great when it was BBQ weather. Stocks up the fridge. :hihi:

Blimey I didn't know that. :o

It was the one that has a shop in Stocksbridge as I remember commenting on the fact that I used to get my bacon from them when I lived there. I assumed it was the same as the one on the Moor.

Hi all

Has anyone used this butchers and would you recommend it? I currently order from muscle food and find their meat good quality but I now work quite close to Crashaw's and would prefer to use a local business if it's decent meat.

Thanks!

Well done for choosing to support local business! If it's meat you're after then you're spoilt for choice: around that area, there are good butchers in the Moor Market; also Simmonites on Division Street, both of which I'd recommend over Crawshaws.
