Dannyno   19 #315 Posted May 7, 2016 Re run election for that seat, you know the democratic way.  The rule is to decide by drawing lots (or other random method), under s.49 of the Representation of the People Act, 1983: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1983/
 Share this content via...

andyofborg   11 #317 Posted May 7, 2016 I know the law, its an ass  it would cost thousands to rerun a ballot, not a good use of taxpayers money much better and cheaper to let fate decide these things
 Share this content via...
Calvin Payne   10 #318 Posted May 7, 2016 I see that Calvin Payne who announced his candidacy on here last November then promptly disappeared, came below Jeffrey in the polls.  Wonder why  As opposed to disappearing I decided to continue to involve myself in community campaigns and issues. Maybe I should have stayed online instead?! I announced my candidature in The Star in October by the way. I thank the people who voted for the only Independent candidate in the City on Thursday. It's easy to moan online, a little harder to be involved.
 Share this content via...

Plus we have elections in a few weeks, could be tagged on to that.  ---------- Post added 07-05-2016 at 16:57 ----------  As opposed to disappearing I decided to continue to involve myself in community campaigns and issues. High Greener   10 #321 Posted May 7, 2016 Hardly surprising given that in 2007 he was a Socialist: Socialist Party and that in 2015 he was a Green: Green Party.  I was a labour voter 22 years, now UKIP.
 Share this content via...
LeMaquis   10 #322 Posted May 7, 2016 Hardly surprising given that in 2007 he was a Socialist: Socialist Party and that in 2015 he was a Green: Green Party.  I got a copy of his leaflet. There were no politics in it. It just denounced the council for doing this, that and the other. It said independents were better because they listened to people and weren't bound by a whip. But the fact that the more people you listen to the more points of view you get wasn't pointed out. Neither were any of his views on anything. Nor was the fact that a council of independents wouldn't get much done. It was just vote for me and see what happens.
 Share this content via...
Mindfulness   10 #323 Posted May 7, 2016 Interesting that:  Julie Dore got 1962 votes (less than she did last year); Terry Fox: 1523; Jack Scott: 1497.  And the Lib Dems thrashed them:  Paul Scriven: 3164; Roger Davison: 3,439; Shaffaq Mohammed: 2787; Andy Nash: 2300; Colin Ross: 3875; Joe Otten: 3547; Andrew Sangar: 3112; Cliff Woodcraft: 3063;  I trust the Labour comms department will ensure the public are aware of the truth of the situation. Despite another Labour run council, the majority of Sheffield did NOT vote Labour!
 Share this content via...
