According to the TSY website, service 76 will replace 47/48 between Shiregreen and Sheffield, the 1a and 56 will replace 47/48 between Sheffield and Herdings.

General point: many thanks to Andy C for the supply of information generally.

Without it/him, who'd know anything from SYPTE or the Bus Partnership Thingy?

Absolutely agree with your sentiment .....Andy C has done some sterling work on this forum over the last few years and answered many of our questions without hesitation. Thanks Andy C.

I've watched several ' driver in training ' buses chugging (literally) along Elm Lane over the last three weeks and remember that the last time there was a significant change of routes, timetables and ticket choices we saw many of the 'office staff' riding shotgun on several routes for days afterwards. Maybe we'll be seeing this happening again as of Sunday ?

Can anyone tell me what number bus from Waingate/Haymarket will now go via Pond St. many thanks.

There is a city centre map section on this download: http://www.travelsouthyorkshire.com/WorkArea/DownloadAsset.aspx?id=17179873334

If you are wanting to ride from Waingate down to the bus Interchange then your options are:

32/32a towards Sheffield Interchange

35 towards Sheffield Interchange

265 towards Sheffield Interchange

6 towards Millhouses

69 towards Sheffield Interchange

74 towards Sheffield Interchange

X78 towards Sheffield Interchange

and from Haymarket to the bus Interchange

56 towards Herdings

252 towards Crystal Peaks

7/8/8a towards Crystal Peaks

40 towards Catcliffe

41 towards Hackenthorpe

120 towards Halfway

Buses from Herdings will no longer go to Shiregreen.

The new Herdings buses are:

1a : Herdings - Hemsworth - Newfield Green - City Centre - Burngreave - Northern General Hospital - Firth Park - Ecclesfield Village - High Green

56 : Herdings - Leighton Road - Newfield Green - Heeley Green - City Centre - Park Hill - Wybourn

Plus of course you have the Purple route tram into the City Centre via Manor Top.

For Shiregreen you need to change in town onto the 75, 76 or 88.

Oddly they didn't follow that logic with the 7/8 which has an identical route in North Sheffield to the 53 they're replacing. I know they go different routes after the city centre and through South Sheffield but why not call them 53/53a?

Probably to avoid confusion with the 'other' 53 and 53a in south Sheffield.... http://www.travelsouthyorkshire.com/WorkArea/DownloadAsset.aspx?id=17179871556

First have confirmed their oldest single decker buses in Sheffield, the Volvo B10BLE, will be withdrawn from service come the new network.

They are having a 'last running day' for enthusiasts on Saturday.

75/76 don't in any way follow the same route to town as the 47/48 though - so not really a "replacement" if travelling intermediately.

If you are thinking about buses arriving into town via Rock Street/Nursery Street route it will be buses 3, 83 and 83a that come down Rock Street onto Nursery Street replacing the 47/48 and the 7/8/8a coming down Mowbray Street onto Nursery Street replacing the 53.

these routes are:

3 Nether Edge-City-Firth Park-Meadowhall

7/8/8a Ecclesfield-Owlerton-Neepsend-City-Manor Top-Crystal Peaks

83 Bents Green-Hunters Bar-City-Southey Green-Parson Cross-Ecclesfield

83a Fulwood-Nether Green-Hunters Bar-City-Southey Green-Parson Cross-Ecclesfield

Thanks Andy. Yes, I was aware of the new route numbers but still think the term 'replacement' isn't quite correct in this context.

You've done a truly magnificent job in disseminating all the information as it's become available.

Well, yes, you have to be careful using such terms as what is the replacement for someone in Shiregreen is not neccessarily the same as the replacement for someone in Firth Park or Pitsmoor for example!

Tram services - no changes!

Just thought I'd add now about trams as they form part of the wider public transport network in Sheffield, however the tram service is not changing, so just a reminder of the service.

bus 18a (Meadowhall to Jordanthorpe) provides that link but there may also be a school bus, I suggest you visit travelsouthyorkshire.com.

In vaguely related news, Stagecoach Bus have just launched their new website. It features a journey planner that is integrated with fares information and service updates and you can buy tickets online easier. http://www.stagecoachbus.com

First have also recently launched a new website, that can be found at http://www.firstgroup.com/south-yorkshire.

Also - Christmas service information for all operators is due to be announced this Thursday at http://www.travelsouthyorkshire.com/christmas.
