*_ash_*   88 #1 Posted September 27, 2015 Have a look at this please, it came through my door the other day. link  It looks quite official, but on closer inspection, it looks a bit scammy. Spelling mistake, no address on it, and the capitals seems to be a bit hazy with its meaning.  Any ideas? I'm not sure what to do with this. I've tried ringing the mobile number on the form, and it doesn't exist.  I get lots of mail for people who used to live here, and I stick them all in the post with not known at this address, but this perhaps needs more attention. I don't want to come home to find someone has broken in.
 Share this content via...
feargal   21 #2 Posted September 27, 2015 Looks dodgy! A quick phone call to the court on Monday morning should tell you if its a genuine case number.
 Share this content via...
Longcol   602 #3 Posted September 27, 2015 (edited) Who was it addressed to?  Ring HCEG on 01492 539039 http://www.hcegroup.co.uk/offices/ and ask what's going on.  Might also be worth giving the Scot Group a bell tomorrow on 01392 411171 - they look like a legit car hire company based in Exeter. sinic   10 #5 Posted September 27, 2015 If you go here https://hce.keyivr.com/Default.aspx and put the unique payment ID in (located at the bottom of the letter) it shows as being a recognised payment number. Current amount owed shows as £4314.18  I would definitely ring the number on their website in the morning http://www.hcegroup.co.uk/
 Share this content via...

It appears to be a private company.  https://companycheck.co.uk/company/04527630/HIGH-COURT-ENFORCEMENT-GROUP-LIMITED/summary
 Share this content via...
geared   317 #7 Posted September 27, 2015 I suppose the main question is does the OP recognise the claim??  To get to that level, you usually have a ton of debt collection agency letters, followed by official court papers, then usually a CCJ or something, then High Court.  You don't just get a letter turn up completely out of the blue, saying you owe a ton of money through a high court writ.  ---------- Post added 27-09-2015 at 19:32 ----------  You can check what judgements are registered against your name here:  http://www.trustonline.org.uk/search-yourself
 Share this content via...
Onthetyne   10 #8 Posted September 27, 2015 This is a genuine claim, its been transferred to the high court. It is what is known as a write of Fifa.  These are not normal bailiffs! and i would suggest you deal with this ASAP
 Share this content via...

The Joker   10 #10 Posted September 27, 2015 If you go here https://hce.keyivr.com/Default.aspx and put the unique payment ID in . . .  it's a cheap godaddy SSL certificate, not a snotty Thawte SSL cert.  I wouldn't pay a penny to these cheapskates until I'd investigated further.  This smells rotten. . . I can see people coming on my CCTV anyway.  I suppose the main question is does the OP recognise the claim?? To get to that level, you usually have a ton of debt collection agency letters, followed by official court papers, then usually a CCJ or something, then High Court.  You don't just get a letter turn up completely out of the blue, saying you owe a ton of money through a high court writ.  No, it aint me. All the mail I get through the door that isn't rubbish gets put back in the postbox with 'Not known at this address' on it.  This is a genuine claim, its been transferred to the high court. The parking people I suspect. I don't particularly want to ring anyone, because if they are like Excel, once they've got in touch with someone, they continue to pester.
