UK Forces uniform not allowed in A & E

Recommended Posts

You would think the RAF serviceman's family would have been more concerned about the seriousness of the accident following a chemical burn, especially if it had effected his eyes.

I have a feeling that this story is exaggerated. It seems very unlikely that a member of staff would ask him to move from the waiting room into a side room anticipating abuse because he was in uniform.

Though having said that, in A&E departments, nursing staff in uniform often have to put up with abuse from drunks at certain times, so you never know.

It is. The hospital said as much. They admit they got it wrong but it happened.

With a complaint getting so much publicity in the press, I'm not surprised the hospital felt they needed to apologise.

In this case he wasn't off duty. In other cases, I don't know.

Fair comment, I'm not entirely sure it's newsworthy really. Gets people wound up I guess - that both sells and fills newspapers.

As tinfoilhat says, in this case he was on duty, the accident occurred when he was on some kind of training exercise. Edited by janie48

Did these really happen ? . I think if it did , its disgusting , but where did the original poster find that out . We should have respect for our armed forces , but can I ask , what was he doing in uniform ? . Had he just come back to the country ?

We should have respect for those in the armed forces but no more than those serving in the police force, fire service or ambulance service.

They all risk their lives doing the job they are paid to do. Only the armed forces choose to wear their uniform when off duty.

Why is that ? Genuine question.

Anybody else think the title is bit misleading?

Not at all. Which part of it are you struggling with ?
