Gamston   10 #2 Posted September 11, 2015 Morrisons has been on a downward spiral since Ken Morrison vacated his position about 6 or 7 years ago .
 Share this content via...
Resident   1,185 #3 Posted September 11, 2015 All caused by over-saturation of the market.  Too many little stores 10 yrds apart.  In the village I grew up in there are now 3 mid-sized Co-ops.
 Share this content via...
alchresearch   213 #4 Posted September 11, 2015 I avoid them because the food is dearer. At least my Tesco express prices stuff the same as in the big stores.
 Share this content via...
Fudbeer   12 #5 Posted September 11, 2015 They made big mistakes some years back.  Not getting into online till very late on and same with convenience and because many of the best sites were taken they took stores in poor locations.  Now when the industry is suffering because there are too many stores and the discounters are taking market share they are feeling it hard.  Its a battle for survival now and would not surprise me if they were broken up and sold.  Sad story they were really successful at one time. geared   302 #6 Posted September 11, 2015 I agree they were stupidly late into online, and I don't think I've ever come across an M Local stoe.  You see loads of the Tesco express ones, even at Petrol stations (which is a brilliant idea)  It's a pity because the big stores are great. The stores will still exist but not under the Morrisons name.
 Share this content via...

geared   302 #10 Posted September 11, 2015 There are two M related stories, this one is about the closure of 11 "full size" stores.  ah thats why it's confusing, also that story mixes in the previous news about M Local which I'm guessing most people saw the other day.  Are they going to list the closing stores??
