Fat, by the common definition, is always animal. Admittedly this isn't very precise.  I havent done any valid scientific experiments yet. I just read a bunch of stuff and piece together. Admittedly this isn't very precise..  IT is rather rent with problems isn't it... olive oil is in fact about 75% monounsaturated fat.... oils are generally liquid at room temp, expect mink oil which is rendered from animals, and is a solid...  The general terms used basically gave up on that and the constituents are referred to as fatty acids in the literature these days, even when they are what you'd call an oil like palm oil...
