tzijlstra   11 #14 Posted August 28, 2015 Ah right! I didn't realise it was called Megatron, but that is a great shout! I've been wanting to go down there at some point.  Whilst we're at it, I am going to add the Diamond, the new Uni building. I genuinely love that and I wish we'd get more like that and the Cheese-grater, agree with Fogey about the cube as well, the Uni does a good line in pushing out the boat when it comes to architecture imo. What is the Hallam Students Union building called again? I really like that as well.
 Share this content via...

Fogey   10 #17 Posted August 28, 2015 Sheffield Hallam's students union was originally the national centre for popular music. Can't believe I didn't think of that one.
 Share this content via...
tzijlstra   11 #18 Posted August 28, 2015 The teapots? Seriously?  @Fogey yeah I heard that the other day, I thought it was purpose built, it is an excellent building in my opinion, only been in once though so not sure if it is fit for purpose, but one assumes it is! Waco Kid   10 #19 Posted August 28, 2015 Not so much individual buildings but for a masterclass in Victorian, upper-middle class, domestic architecture I'd recommend strolling around the Sale Hill-Taptonville Road area of Broomhill, Upperthorpe (the road that leads down from Commonside), and (possibly more Edwardian) the Marlcliffe Road area of Hillsborough. Fogey   10 #20 Posted August 28, 2015 In its original form as the NCPM it wasn't very effective and suffered from the same malaise as nearly every other millennium lottery funded project, - it didn't really have a properly considered function. The building was certainly better than the stuff that went into it but ultimately suffered from the fact that the interior definitely didn't match the exterior for quality. If I recall correctly, the price to get in and see the exhibits circa 2000 was in the region of £10 for an adult.
 Share this content via...
Bludragonfly   10 #21 Posted August 28, 2015  [/color]The Salvation Army building just off Pinstone Street.   It was nice in its time but not now http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/old-citadel-sheffield-spring-09.t42005  If that is what it was like in 2009 I dread to think what it is like now squatters have lived there
 Share this content via...
