davyboy   19 #1 Posted August 25, 2015 I have just received an e mail purporting to come from Barclays informing me that they were changing the way they communicate to me by letter. If I was agreeable just click on the link. It was an incredibly professional looking letter , in the right font and colour that Barclays use on their web site. They had even used my name(most scams address me as "dear customer"). The only thing that gave them away was : "to confirm that the message was genuine we have included the last four digits of your account number". Which it wasn't! They even included the correct e mail address and phone number for Barclays internet security!! A quick phone call to Barclays, using the number from my web account, confirmed it was a scam and I was asked to forward it to their security team. I was told firmly that Barclays would never send me an e mail about my account. A very clever scam.
 Share this content via...

That's the heading, I haven't opened it (and don't intend to)  HMRC phishing reports go to [email protected]  I got one of those too but mine was for £456.95 - you've been done minimo!  I reported it and received an email back "Thank you for letting us know about the suspicious email you have received. We can confirm that this is a scam, and was not issued by HMRC.  Our specialist team will investigate and take the necessary action. Whilst we cannot inform you of the outcome of these investigations I can confirm that we do act on each submission we receive.  HMRC will never send notifications of a tax refund or ask you to disclose personal or payment information by email.
