Henry's, Cambridge St

Apparently it is now open again. Hopefully some brave person will tell us what it's like now.

It won`t be me. Been in a few times with hopes and been bitterly disappointed, literally and metaphorically....

Went in yesterday and the floor has been polished and looks all shiney.

Seems less seats now as they taken some tables out and put in some big comfy seats.

Ales are still there but no lager pumps above it like last time.

Why the big downer on Henry's in this thread.

A nice bar with generally good clientele in a good spot.

Making use of what would otherwise by another empty unit in the sevenstone graveyard.

Hope it continues to do well.

Yes I went in there the other day with Spider Pete as it has re-opened and it is now even better than before !! What struck me was:

- the vast range of real ales now and easy to read

- the amazing new floor, sanded back and layers of varnish it looks just amazing now !

- the comfy soft seats , yes they were so comfy I almost fell asleep

- We were told that they will now be running regular all day Northern SOul events , hence I suppose the fewer seats and the care and attention given to the new floor , I will look forward to attending one of these soon , I think there is one on Sat 5th December?

Always liked Henry's as a bar. But the quality of the beer was a joke. I'm gonna give it another go soon to see what the refit is like, but not holding out much hope.

?

They`ve always had 12 (ales / pumps). Conveniently they all tasted pretty much the same which made choosing easy.....

strolled past henrys on Cambridge street yesterday and noticed that all the windows whited out and looking like it had closed. Has it actually closed down for good? surely it cant be a redecoration as it wasn't that long ago they did a refurb/paint job. Would be a shame if its gone as it was quite a nice place and I enjoyed the beers.

Apparently it has closed for good. I'm surprised, as they did a big (and long-lasting) refurbishment job on it just a few months ago, and I don't think that block is supposed to be imminently affected by the new retail development.

Might have closed due to the retail redevelopment the hotel across the road is coming down soon.

The leases there were all subject to the redevelopment, I believe. Same with Tap n Tankard. Does this mean Aardvark brewery`s test brews were all for nothing?!

FWIW, I thought the place was very nice inside in that it could appeal to a lot of different folk but the beers, whilst vast in range, were almost always poor.
