RonJeremy   10 #49 Posted August 12, 2015 For about 10 minutes, then the same lies will appear on another thread and we'll be arguing with the same people on the same matter again. The facts are inconvenient for them and so get "forgotten" almost as soon as they've been explained.  Frustrating isn't it? But it's impossible to let them get away with repeating the same lies in case the naive believe them.
 Share this content via...

I suppose to get back to the main thrust of the thread, it's worth noting the insulting nature of Labour politicians and their supporters on the matter. - Crash the economy and blame somebody else - Create the need for public spending restraint and then complain about it - Describe continuous increases in public spending after inflation as cuts - Bleat on endlessly about the austerity they created.  I don't know about you, but when I hear this kind of thing I feel very much like they're insulting my intelligence. unbeliever   10 #54 Posted August 12, 2015 Oh... perlease....  And again.  No attempt to counter the arguments presented. No response to the facts presented.  Insulting is too mild a word for it.  Total spending going up even correcting for inflation. Nobody to blame for the disastrous mis-regulation of the banking sector but Labour. A crazy pattern of borrowing during a boom rather than saving for a rainy day.  And the bunch of moronic socialists responsible for the crash and the fall-out since, trying to blame the people working their backsides off to put it right. I don't know how anybody with a conscience or any sense can repeat such absolute garbage.  ---------- Post added 12-08-2015 at 14:58 ----------  Are you accepting my figures and therefore conceding that your supposed cuts are a massive lie? Anna B   1,401 #55 Posted August 12, 2015 Pathetic. No attempt to counter the arguments presented. No response to the facts presented.  Now that's insulting.  What's the point? It's all been said many times on many threads. You aren't capable of changing.  According to you, anyone with any thought for other people is a 'leftie.' Anyone who doesn't agree that money should rule the world is a 'leftie.' Anyone slightly to the left of Ghengis Khan is a 'leftie.' In fact anyone who doesn't roll over and agree with you is a 'leftie.'  Your mind is closed. Full stop.  ---------- Post added 12-08-2015 at 15:03 ----------  And again. No attempt to counter the arguments presented. I used to think like you when I was much younger and more naive. I have plenty of friends who still do. They just don't match up with reality, and if you look into it properly you'll find the same.  Offer some facts to back up your case if you can.  Are you accepting my figures and therefore conceding that your supposed cuts are a massive lie? Vague_Boy   10 #58 Posted August 12, 2015 They'd have you believe that the Labour government were not warned about inevitability the crash long before it happened.  The IMF was certainly trying to get Gordon Brown to stop spending like a madman:  2000  IMF Warns Brown over Pre-Election Spending  2001  IMF warns Brown to cut spending  2002  IMF warns Brown over spending  2003  IMF gives Brown borrowing warning  2004  Spend less or tax more, Brown told  2005  Irate Brown rejects IMF's warning over deficit  2007  IMF warns Brown to curb spending  2009  Bad news for Brown as IMF says Britain's debt crisis is the worst among major economies  The worst among major economies. Well, well, well.   And here's an interesting little factiod to chew on:  Labour ministers 'leant on IMF' to disguise devastating truth of pre-credit crunch economy Labour ministers put pressure on international inspectors to ‘tone down’ warnings about the precarious state of the economy before the financial crisis, according to a devastating report.  The International Monetary Fund, the global financial watchdog, told the last government as early as 2004 that it was borrowing and spending too much money.  But the advice was rejected by Treasury officials who told the watchdog to water down its public criticisms of tax and spending policies.  The findings came in a report from the IMF’s Independent Evaluation Office which exposed a series of astonishing failures in the run-up to the crisis.  The report found that information was withheld from the IMF and the public by the British authorities, Fund officials were intimidated, and regulators at home and abroad failed to spot serious risks in the banking system and the economy.  LINK  A series of astonishing failures.   They'd have you believe that a bunch of corrupt capitalists in the US were responsible for the whole thing and there was nothing Gordon Brown could do.  Gordon Brown was already running record deficits in 2006:  http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/5097706.stm  Record deficits in an era of so-called "growth". What was he thinking?  So far from being "well placed" to withstand the economic crisis, the UK was in a far weaker position than it need have been. unbeliever   10 #60 Posted August 12, 2015 I think Anna B has given up.  I'm going to find this thread very useful for quoting and copying a pasting the next time the socialists "forget" how incredibly wrong they got things in the 00's. Thanks to Ron and Vague_Boy for hammering the point home.  ---------- Post added 12-08-2015 at 18:09 ----------  I am neutral and agree with 70% of what Anna B says.
