blowfealt   10 #49 Posted August 13, 2015 noooooooo  Sorry.  Try it now, I have adjusted it under the guidance of my friend who is up on these things. He forwarded the polaroids to a guy at Western Park, who has confirmed that this is by far the largest flying ant to have been recorded on film. blowfealt   10 #51 Posted August 14, 2015 Far from it, my friend has contacted Harry Gration. Fingers crossed, they will be running the giant flying ant story on this evening's Look North.  This could really put Sheffield on the map. blowfealt   10 #53 Posted August 15, 2015 I hope it doesn't turn out to be a starling...the people at Look Leeds with think we are all stupid(they think that anyway)  The people at Look North are stupid in my opinion! - did you see the the news bulletin?  They insisted on interviewing me where I first saw the ant - that was on Bawtry Rd at Wickersley in Rotherham where it hit my windscreen.  As you can see from the pics, I didn't take the measurements of the bug until i reached home in Sheffield. My friend - who is one of the top quiz night winners in the country - states that the bug was (although on my windscreen) still travelling until I stopped my car in Sheffield.  Therefore, the largest flying ant ever recorded, was recorded in Sheffield.  Look North and the BBC seem to think that a better story would be "Sheffield try and pinch largest flying ant record from Rotherham".  Is it because I am a Sheffielder? What would the headline be if I was from Leeds, I wonder?
 Share this content via...

blowfealt   10 #57 Posted August 20, 2015 I think I've sorted the pics (fingers crossed). The good news is that I have received an apology via email from Christa Ackeroyd about Look North's inaccurate report.  As for the pics, here is a pic of the ant's position on my wind shield http://imgur.com/sXNGJjY  Here is the close up of the ant with measurements http://imgur.com sxixNIGORjY
 Share this content via...
