London hotel recommendations

Planning a few days away in London, and wondered if anyone could recommend any decent hotels that don't charge a fortune around the West End/theatre land.

Not sure you can get "decent" and "don't charge a fortune" around the West End though.

Strand Palace, went for fifteen years on trot .never a problem.

Doubletree on Southampton Row. Walkable to theatreland or cheap taxi-ride with Uber.

Strand Palace, went for fifteen years on trot .never a problem.

 

Strand Palace is nice, a bit pricey but worth it. Russell Hotel for us.

Strand Palace is very nice, and extremely convenient for the theatres.

Not in the West End, I'm afraid, but if you don't mind hopping on the tube, the Premier Inn at Stratford is excellent.

Shaftesbury on Shaftesbury Avenue.

Stayed in the dorsett at shepherd's bush a few months back at I think £90 per night, was really quite nice and one of the cheapest hotels we could find, about 5 mins walk max to the tube , but lovely decorated, modern and had some spa options too.

 

Definitely recommend it for value.
