Haven't downloaded any software

This is the link I clicked:

http://www.micropcsupport.com/support/6017/microsoft-support.html

That website is a scam and has been for years.

Microsoft is ending development on Silverlight so I doubt you need it at all.

I clicked on the linked and never got any trojans.

I'd run Malwarebytes if I was you.

Have you tried going back using System Restore?

I'd personally wipe the drive and reinstall the OS and then make an image to save all this hasslein the future.

Not tried a System restore yet....

This guy from micro pc did show all the errors on the system - it's those I need to deal with!

What do you mean by make an image?

Just off the top, Solomon1, I would suggest getting the offending machine to someone who knows what they are doing, because, with respect, you don't - and it does sound as if some kind of remedial work is required.

Because I have used him, and know he knows what he's doing, I suggest MoZaLan off this forum.

This is his site: http://www.byteitltd.co.uk/

Those 'errors' are more than likely nothing to be concerned about, M$ records lots of little system hiccups as 'errors' or 'warnings', but they can be safely ignored.

It is a scam to get you to pay...

Making an image is easy and free. I use Macrium Reflect and has been 100% reliable over the past three years of use.

Do you mean a back up copy?

An image is different to a copy (as I understand)...An image is an exact replica of all your files and hidden files and configurations, so that if you have to restore it at some point it will be exactly as it was when you made the image.

A copy is only a copy of the files, which is ok, but you won't be able to use it to restore your whole system. If that makes sense.

Ok thanks Pete

This laptop is only a couple of months old - don't really want to reset it already!

Issues are:

1. Intermitently can't copy and paste

2. Intermittent Firefox crashes

3. Silverlight issues

Issues fairly minor - any ideas how to fix? Or common denominator on why they are glitching?

Not had this trouble with a new machine before :help:
