phoenixboy   10 #1 Posted July 2, 2015 New proposal. With sheff already one of the less prosperous major northern cities, what effect would 10% less to spend have. Am thinking local economy could suffer.  ---------- Post added 02-07-2015 at 17:30 ----------  10% deduction or supplement on housing ben claimants only. Just add that! SYorksDeano   10 #2 Posted July 2, 2015 Its going to have a massive impact on benefit claimants. Those on Employment and Support allowance could be seeing their benefits cut by £30 a week as it is according to the news today.  Some benefit claimants are also already paying 10% because of the bedroom tax and can't move into anything smaller. Main reason that the council just don't have any smaller properties.  No doubt people will complain and they are right to, but we have another 5 years of this..... Vaati   11 #4 Posted July 2, 2015 It would have an impact on my household. My mom gets ESA and can't work. She already has to pay towards her rent and that isn't due to bedorom tax.
 Share this content via...
gamezone07 Â Â 23 #5 Posted July 2, 2015 People in the non support group still have expenditure that others don't have, including taxis, extra heating, water, incontinence aids, bedding, there used to be allowances for these items, they way they are treating disabled people is a disgrace. manwithaview   10 #10 Posted July 2, 2015 Avoid upgrading to the very latest iphone or smoking 20 fags a day less and they'll be fine  This borders on hate posts, leaving aside many who are on housing benefit are the 'hard working families beloved of the Govt and indeed New Labour/Now Labour. WiseOwl182   10 #11 Posted July 2, 2015 As just an outside taster, just think of what your reaction would be if your boss said that you have to take a 10% pay cut.  That's not like for like.  Instead, how about...... every month your neighbour put £600 through your letterbox to go towards the mortgage. Then he lost his job, got a new lower paying one, and could only put £540 through each month instead.
 Share this content via...
kidley   48 #12 Posted July 2, 2015 They reason in my opinion these cuts are happening is, there is one hell of allot of people on these benefits who should not be claiming them, There are people in this country who are third generation unemployed who have never seriously looked for a job in there life, Also how many of you have seen the blue badge brigade, to get one of those in overwhelming cases you have to be claiming the higher rate mobility (have great difficulty walking) yes youv'e seen them on double yellows, in car parks put the blue badge on the dash and march off like a good un, These are the people who are spoiling the British welfare state. and be it Tory or labour the cuts would still happen.
