Are sheffield people really nice

before i arriverd here last weak i read that you lot are broad minded and friendly people. all ive seen is the same nasty get out of my way altitude that leeds brats have.

 

i know its only a week but some drive me to didtraction.

 

for instances, i parked my old car in lorry parking bay just near the moor market just for a minute to buy a top up for my mobile. within seconds a couple of nosy parkers shouted i coundnt park there. one looked very irate and what business was of them any way ?

 

no lorries about or nothing. hope all sheffiefers arent as spitfull parkers.

The 'nosy parkers' likely stopped you getting a parking ticket - since they like to pounce.

 

Like anywhere in the country, you get the nice folk and the not so nice folk.

Probably no better or worse than other places. I always thought we were ok but times change. More people look angry and shouty than ever, probably about nowt in particular

Looks like you are fitting in nicely with the few bigotts there already. Or did you really mean 'altitude' because we are 30 miles further North ?

My experience in Sheffield has also been one of intolerance. Not to me per-se but definitely a strong vocal resentment towards migrants, benefit claimants cyclists and the vulnerable. Very shameful considering its socialism heritage and tolerance of others less fortunate is supposed to be the towns strong point.

I have lived here since 1987 and I agree with some of the comments gwhite has made. One of the biggest cities in the UK but sometimes it feels like a village. There seems to be a lot of negativity about a lot of things and of course always the council's fault. Just like my home town. But then there are some very positive things about Sheffield as well. I find it's what you make it.

Welcome to modern world. Think youll find the me first attitude everywhere.

Sheffield is no exception. Look around, its multicultural. Southerners, migrants. Basically sheffield isnt much different to leeds.

It was invented by Sheffield people about Sheffield people.

 

It may have been true at some point but I can't say they are these days.

 

This forum is a good guide. I'm not sure I agree about the UKIP comment. I do see a lot of over opinionated people that think their views and ways are the ONLY way and let rip on anyone with different views. Sort of the same as life in general really
