unbeliever   10 #6687 Posted June 23, 2016 It does seem that the art of compromise is a little too subtle for some.  How could politics work if no one was ever willing to compromise? You're not suggesting that everyone in a government, or even a political party believes in exactly the same ideals and supports all the actions?  Agree to disagree. Under some circumstances, a trade is acceptable. We'll do this your way but this other thing my way. As long as there is no significant coupling between the 2 things. What's not good, is to say we'll do this one thing half your way and half mine. I'd rather let you do it your way.
 Share this content via...

Lex Luthor   10 #6689 Posted June 23, 2016 That's the trouble with politics this country. We see compromise as being a weakness. It's why a lot of people revere Thatcher even though her policies hurt them. It's also what did for Clegg and the Lib-Dems.  I thought that was betrayal. It's compromise, is it? JFKvsNixon   11 #6690 Posted June 23, 2016 Taken from the BBC's live feed:  UKIP's Nigel Farage, who earlier reportedly said Remain would "edge it", has now told the Press Association's Parliamentary Editor Arj Singh he thinks the UK has voted to Remain. This was based on "what I know from some of my friends in the financial markets who have done some big polling". Lex Luthor   10 #6691 Posted June 23, 2016 If there is one thing that can be learnt from this referendum it is that people want to vote and our electoral system needs changing so that peoples vote throughout the country start to count instead of those in a handful of seats.  Indeed.  http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1471155  ---------- Post added 23-06-2016 at 23:33 ----------  Taken from the BBC's live feed:  I am VERY surprised at that.   .....Nigel Farage has friends! JFKvsNixon   11 #6693 Posted June 23, 2016 I am VERY surprised at that.  .....Nigel Farage has friends!  Friends in the financial markets as well, they probably just acquaintances though! I thought that Farage and Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson were battling the establishment, instead of being part of it?
 Share this content via...
