Smart Meters Thread

Recommended Posts

Assuming that the supplier you change to does use smart meters at all then yes.

We changed to Eon purely on cost, but they don't use the British Gas meters and don't yet have any smart meters in our area.

Thanks. I'm sure a lot of people don't realise this.

No requirement to have a smart meter.

If you don't want it, just refuse.

There is nothing they can do to force you to have one.

I guess the telephone/wi-fi box is the biggest user on a night time, or do some people turn theirs off?

el cid - the biggest 'user' overnight would be your fridge/freezer (or possibly water heater, if like me you are on E7 electric). Your router would be using minimal power- it doesn't use THAT much even when using your PC/laptop/w.h.y.

This is true.

Are you aware that even if you leave all your wall sockets on, electricity seeps through. This is why we are advised to not just switch our TV, electric kettles, radio's etc. Off, but to UNPLUG them from the wall socket as well.

I think you may have been misled here.:)

I agree. I'm not unplugging my wall sockets.
