Cows around Crosspool and Sandygate!

These cows remind me of living in London in the 80's. Ancient Commoner Rights gave some people the right to let their cattle roam on common ground around Epping Forest which extended into the London areas of Leytonstone, Wanstead and into Walthamstow. Local traffic news broadcasts frequently had comments about the cows causing delays.

I worked at the local hospital which had to have cattle grids at the entrances - but the cows were clever and could get passed it so cows were frequently seen outside the ground floor wards - even poking their heads inside open windows in the summer. There is a small photo on this website in case anyone is interested which I doubt http://www.bbc.co.uk/legacies/work/england/essex/user_1_index.shtml
