willybite   10 #100 Posted September 16, 2015 Not in my day owd luv. I think the closest they ever got to a Cravat round our way was the old white silk scarf and flat cap. Mind you I did own a string tie in the 50s and me flat cap was in blue and black stripes !! I'm that old I can remember when jeans had four inch turn ups..  hiya grinder j, long time no see still on computer i see,me anall i moved when the wife passed on in february i live with my g/daughter near barton tha noors weer they brew beer, but we're moving soon near uttoxeter, a million miles to what i was used to, remember the old string tie with the steers head neck piece but just before that came out there was the slim jim tie,i had one only because it was it cost 15 bob, and the silky waistcoat, and black jumper with white vee neck, and white silk scarf many the time one of our mates would borrow his dad's white scarf that he used in the rolling mill. and the bulldog nosed shoes. and the yellow socks seems averybody wore them, then white socks came in, my mum used to get mine from lisa brinns up duke st they were hospital bed socks, kids today don't know they're born.
