Berberis   10 #2 Posted May 19, 2015 To be fair, the number of self service machines means these kiosks are surplus to requirements. They have been closing for years (10+) as other means of providing information becomes the proffered source for many people. Andy C Â Â 83 #5 Posted May 19, 2015 And with reason, as many elderly are not internet savvy. Â quite, although there is a drop-box facility for paper application forms at the new information kiosks so it isn't quite as bad as made out. It will be interesting to see how helpful the information kiosk staff are able to be.
 Share this content via...

Eric Arthur   10 #8 Posted May 20, 2015 (edited) Due to SYPTE budget cuts as part of the government austerity programme, All Travel South Yorkshire Travel Information Centres will be closing from 1st June 2015.[/url]  It's a bit of a luxury jobs for the boys scheme to have these centres to sell passes when there are literally thousands of mobile equivilents (bus drivers) roaming around the streets all day every day on the things that the passes are for.  Lets have lots more cuts like this please. alchemist   35 #9 Posted May 20, 2015 The elderly will have a good ol' moan about it, though.  Which would be a tad ironic as I am sure I read somewhere that one of the reasons that they are closing is because of the elderly passes I may have misheard that though
 Share this content via...

RollingJ Â Â 1,908 #11 Posted May 20, 2015 Why don't First SY issue smartcards - they work well enough in many other parts of the country. I've got one for use in Brighton and surrounding area when I'm down there - it can hold daily/weekly/monthly and 'specials'.
