Perfectly sensible.
 Share this content via...

Tough luck. If they really objected, couldn't they just screw up the order and do Bob the builder cake or something? It wouldn't be the first time ever someone got an order wrong. But no, they wanted to prove a point - and they have. Religious nutters aren't above the law.
 Share this content via...
Harrystottle   10 #7 Posted May 19, 2015 Because some people are really really thick and believe in things that no normal right minded individual would.  Even as late as thirty years since most "normal right minded individual"(s) would have burst out laughing at the concept of gay marriage.  So "normality" varies quite a bit. Magilla   510 #8 Posted May 19, 2015 So they can't express the religious beliefs,  Like anything, your beliefs don't entitle you to do whatever you like. Running a company requires adherance to the laws of the land.  they are forced to do something that they believe to be wrong.  The law of the land disagree's. The company is not a religious group so they should be able to run it in a way that satisfies their personal belief without discriminating against any customers. It doesn't seem like that would be too difficult.  Out of interest, where would you draw the discrimination line? If a religion regarded the disabled as undesireable... for example, would that be OK? Running a company requires adherance to the laws of the land.    There was an item on this particular episode on the radio earlier.. the presenter asked a representative of the Irish LBGT community what would happen if a lesbian t-shirt printer was asked to do a shirt proclaiming "Homosexuality is an abomination"..would the company fulfill the order? The LBGT rep. suggested that this was entirely different and refused to give a proper answer..
 Share this content via...
