Here we go again with Channel 4s newest recruits,

Monday nights taking us down an oh so familiar route,

Probably the most unlikely celebrities you would care to meet,

Who have a starring role in the new Benefit Street?

A trip up North for a change this time,

To a poverty ridden street not short on crime,

Introductions being made of the unsuspecting cast,

Whose history of woefulness seems incredibly vast?

Poor souls hoping as the nation hears their plight,

That a magic wand will wave and make everything right,

Stereotype folk living for every day,

Only breaking into a smile on Giro day,

The now resident reporters just waiting for a snip,

Eagerly awaiting for one to slip,

Then their story will be headline news,

A life exploited by system abuse and booze,

Yet no doubt there will be people who throughout our land,

Genuinely have to live cap in hand,

A script that could probably be government written,

The nation hoodwinked to think this is Benefit Britain,

Seen enough to say that this is not a true reflection,

Maybe it would be better off in the crime watch section.
