apelike 10 #5 Posted May 4, 2015 How are your DIY skills? You could dissemble both, check what cells are faulty and then make one good battery from the lot. Then try and source the same ni-cad cells which are faulty and replace them. The Sub-C cells can be bought for as little as £2.00 each and maybe cheaper if you look around. http://www.batteriesplus.co.uk/acatalog/1.2V_NiCd_Sub_C_Rechargeable_Tagged_Batteries.html Several U tube videos on "how to" around as well. allysum 10 #9 Posted May 4, 2015 (edited) I think the battery packs are NIMH rather than Ni-Cad so if you attempt the repair yourself just be mindful of differences and probably safer to replace each cell with the same specification. They don't require cell protection like Li-ion batteries though. Edited August 28, 2015 by allysum
 Share this content via...
Timeh 10 #10 Posted May 5, 2015 repaired mine (drill bought from lidl) with cells from china, bonus it now has more capacity than new.cost less than twenty quid. tip. make a drawing of the cell layout and connections before you start. If it cost you that little and you got your cells from china (18650?) then they wont last long regardless of what you think. The cells bought from China are usually recovered old lappy batteries. Some are ok and last for a few cycles but they all die quick smart You need some Panasonic, Oled or similar good quality brand. allysum 10 #11 Posted May 5, 2015 Agreed with Timeh, buying cells from China is quite risky. They're not cheap but CPC/Farnell have a a good range of cells with accurate specifications. Panasonic is more often sold under the Sanyo brand these days if you're buying from industrial/tech suppliers rather than Ebay etc.
 Share this content via...

The ones I bought were brand new and still good after over 1 year of use, and also you will find that laptop batteries are smaller in size and capacity. You need some Panasonic, Oled or similar good quality brand. Which also come from.. China.
 Share this content via...
