Gaming PC's, advice please!

Recommended Posts

Hello there!

I was hoping you can help please? Where would I buy a good gaming computer.(desk top)

Do those of you who have one maintain and upgrade it yourselves?

and finally, how much should I expect to pay please?

Thanks in advance for your help! :)

For a 'Gaming PC' - personally i'd say build your own - maintain and upgrade it yourself (that's what I do)

You can buy a basic store bought PC to start with - then the addition of a new Power Supply and Graphics Card - Maybe add some RAM depending... but you have to be sure that adding / upgrading won't void any warranty if it's store bought - and that the case is sufficient to upgrade (as lots of store bought are small(er) cases)

Budget:

- building yourself

-- £500 MINIMUM (to get you started - not the greatest)

-- £1000+ Recommended (the more you pay out at the start - the less you will have to over the next few years)

- Store Bought

-- £300 - to get a basic machine (again the more you spend the better it will be fore upgradability etc)

-- then add another ~£200 (at least) to upgrade the GFX and PSU etc

it also depends on what games/type you want to play - what size monitor - whether you want 3D or not etc...

I bought my pc from here, 5 years old and still going strong.

I paid over £1500 but it still feels like a new one.
