stressconsul 10 #50 Posted April 21, 2015 What Nick Clegg says of the poll results: "Utter bilge" What Oliver Coppard says: “Frankly, I have no interest in whether we’re making history or not… If we do win here it will be because people in Sheffield Hallam want a better MP and a government that not only listens, but reflects their values and priorities.” "Nick Clegg is backed by big donors - including private healthcare companies while all our money comes from small donations via our website. We won’t be able to outspend him but we will do our very best to outwork him.” “If Nick Clegg doesn't know that this latest poll really is a genuine reflection of people's feelings here in Sheffield Hallam then he's even more out of touch with this community than I thought.” “Many people are angry but most people are also incredibly disappointed that the person who promised so much has delivered so little and backtracked so often". “Locally, the general perception seems to be that he’s a nice bloke but he’s been a terrible local MP.” http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/sheffield-hallam-wants-better-mp-5125822
 Share this content via...

Flanker7 20 #52 Posted April 21, 2015 ..........it might be a very short parliament next time round (minority governments and such) and disgruntled Hallam-ites might get a sooner than expected chance to change their minds. ?? Any one know if the statutory '5 year parliaments' brought in by the last government can be disregarded in these circumstances? ................or any others? Dan_Ashcroft 10 #55 Posted April 21, 2015 Hallam is far too rich an area to vote Labour - containing Dore and Fulwood, it is the 3rd richest constituency outside of London Two things will happen that haven't been factored in: 1) Natural Tories (who there are a lot of) will tactically vote Lib Dem to keep Labour out. The Tories have deliberately not put up a strong candidate 2) Students just don't turnout. People also underestimate the number of international students (who can't vote) and those that are registered at their parents' house in the Home Counties instead of Sheffield
 Share this content via...
go4it 10 #56 Posted April 21, 2015 That's like saying Tesco is a local grocer. Any evidence Gideon ever mixed wallpaper paste? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osborne_%26_Little It is the Osborne family business. Whilst George himself may not have been on the front end, he's had shares and knows what it takes to run a business. That's why he is a good chancellor. Many UK Sheffield students come from all over the North as well as the Home Counties. I am hoping they are remembering what Nick Clegg has done to their future solvency.
