35bn trident costs..what a waste of money

Recommended Posts

Anyone else think we should be spending on more productive things..greenpeace put the cost of trident around the 35bn mark. What a waste..cant we just buy afew submarines and and scrap this trident business. Id sooner have more money for schools and health than this. Russia etc would be daft to launch a nuclear attack on us. It will never happen..

In a perfect world we wouldn't need it.

Look what happened to Ukraine after they disposed of all their nuclear weapons.

What should we use against a country like Russia in the event of a war, harsh words?

Its a disgusting waste of money for a supposedly civilised country. Think of all the good that money could do.

Russia would favour an electronic attack, the sort they used against the USS Donald Cook in the Black sea last year by a couple of Sukhoi-24's.

America has now banned its fleet from Russian waters and its got their military rattled.

Russia is being hammered by sanctions, the manipulated oil prices and other variables in the hope they DO attack. We are helping in this and we could end up paying a price for it.

Look what happened to Iraq after Saddam had decommissioned all his chemical and biological weapons.

UK military spending is approx 45 billion a year....total public spending is about 730 billion... just to put the Trident cost into some sort of context..

You'll need to ask the people making the decisions as to why they think Trident is necessary..they have more experience and knowledge of military matters then I do...

I bet Ukraine's government wish they had Trident. Giving folk anti-polio injections is a waste of money until there is an outbreak of polio.
