Nicolla Sturgeon- I'm impressed.

Recommended Posts

I doubt if an ex-council house in Ayrshire would make anyone very well off.

It's been quoted as worth about £150k, not exactly a fortune. However, it was a good opportunity for families like hers to become home owners, regardless of the fact that they hated the politicians who gave them that opportunity. Profit beats principles nearly every time!

The Right to Buy is being withdrawn in Scotland next year. Anyone interested better hurry! http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/scotland/housing_s/housing_buying_and_selling_s/scottish_government_guide_to_your_right_to_buy_your_home_scotland.htm

I guess it's easy to appear skilled and affable when you get to spend all the cash without having to make any of the hard decisions or deal with international interests.
Agreed, though you might have wanted to also add 'after Salmond did all the hard graft' ;)

She's probably put the wind up Labour quite bad.

They really don't want to loose their Scottish stronghold, but they've neglected it so much that SNP are looking to clear up.

Scotland is not a pleasant place these days. The referendum was very devisive. I have friends there who are contemplating moving out because they have been attacked for supporting the NO campaign.

The growth of nationalism has taken an ugly turn. There will most certainly be independence within a decade and probably ethnic cleansing to follow.

She proclaims the reason she went into politics was to fight the misery Maggie Thatcher inflicted on people.

She was bought up in a council house which her parents were able to buy for a knock down price under Maggie Thatcher's Right to Buy scheme. As a result her family became very well off as value of house rose.

Well that's politics for you. The great reforming 1945 - 51 Labour Government introduced the NHS, the modern welfare state, expanded legal aid, and massively invested in public housing.

Lots of people benefitted, including people who voted against the Labour administration; and continued to vote for other parties in spite of them benefiting.

If the SNP perform as some have predicted they will become the third party in British politics, so they'll have a big say in the next government so we'll be seeing a lot more of Nicola Sturgeon.

She would make a good leader for all of the U.K, sadly our out of date voting system makes this impossible .

Even if she wasn't Alex Salmond's finger puppet, she was and is so anti English that she would be most unsuitable in UK government. Thank God her tentacles of power do not extend further.

Just been watching Nicolla Sturgeon making a speech to the British Parliament and I was impressed not only by what she had to say, but by her.

What a pity we don't seem to have women MPs in this country with her charisma, caring and down to earth common sense.

Shame then that she completely misreading the strength of feeling for independence and got the whole thing completely wrong, while at the same time fostering huge division within Scotland.

So what happens when neither of the main parties can gain a working majority without the 45 or so SNP MPs?

The Tories say that they probably won't enter into another coalition and they'll try to run the country as a minority government, so the SNP MPs are certainly going to make the next parliament interesting.

Especially if they keep voting against the Government regarding non-Scottish issues.

Who ever becomes the government the SNP will have them in their pocket. "If you want our support for X, you will have to give Scotland this".

The country would be ungovernable and the UK would fall apart which is exactly what the SNP stand for.
