Hi there,

I'm researching an intervention designed to help young girls who have become pregnant reduce their alcohol consumption, or ideally stop it altogether. Specifically focusing on heavier drinkers who appear ambivalent about changing.

From my understanding alcohol use etc would be discussed in the first antenatal care meeting. What I'm trying to establish is, what would a midwife's course of action be should she discover there is an alcohol problem? I.e. where would she refer them to for assistance? And are they obligated to ensure that it is followed-up?

Many thanks for your help on this.
