Rambo: First Blood

Recommended Posts

ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES EVER!!!! -- They sure picked the wrong guy!!!!!! (Im glad I found a good copy (In SP mode))

THEY CAUSED ALL OF IT!!!!

Like John said "THEY DREW FIRST BLOOD" -- They sure did..... They saw John as a Military person (The 'US Army' on his jacket set the sheriffs attitude) and many ppl do not like them for the way they treat ppl badly....... IT WAS NOT JOHNS FAULT THAT MR. GALT WAS KILLED WHEN HE FELL OUT OF THE HELICOPTER....... It was Karma that got him... HE WAS GONNA KILL JOHN!!!

That movie came out BEFORE THIS P.C. CRAP STARTED luckily (1982) and was able to be ALL IT COULD!! (Its excellent)

Were you watching it sober, or. . .?

Anyway, did films back then actually have a political message, or was it just a case of blowing things up on screen = bums on seats at the cinema?

The first one is actually pretty good, and if you strip away some of the explosions there's quite a strong message about how Vietnam vets were treated when they got back. The two that followed were largely nonsense but the first still stands up.

"Born In The U.S.A."

Born down in a dead man's town

The first kick I took was when I hit the ground

You end up like a dog that's been beat too much

Till you spend half your life just covering up

Born in the U.S.A.

I was born in the U.S.A.

I was born in the U.S.A.

Born in the U.S.A.

Got in a little hometown jam so they put a rifle in my hand

Sent me off to a foreign land to go and kill the yellow man

Born in the U.S.A.

I was born in the U.S.A.

I was born in the U.S.A.

I was born in the U.S.A.

Born in the U.S.A.

Come back home to the refinery

Hiring man says "son if it was up to me"

Went down to see my V.A. man

He said "son don't you understand now"

Had a brother at Khe Sahn fighting off the Viet Cong

They're still there he's all gone

He had a woman he loved in Saigon

I got a picture of him in her arms now

Down in the shadow of penitentiary

Out by the gas fires of the refinery

I'm ten years burning down the road

Nowhere to run ain't got nowhere to go

Born in the U.S.A.

I was born in the U.S.A.

Born in the U.S.A.

I'm a long gone daddy in the U.S.A.

Born in the U.S.A.

Born in the U.S.A.

Born in the U.S.A.

I'm a cool rocking daddy in the U.S.A.

I'm a bit too young to remember the Vietnam War :) and when I first watched a pirate VHS video copy of Rambo 1 back in the late 1980s :o I thought the local Police arrested him 'cos they didn't want any vagrants / transients / homeless people staying in their quaint little town.

Really, I thought the Police and Army vets were "on the same side" as it were.

Awww how cute

Thanks, I thought it was a lovely heart-warming story too. All those cuddly bears and flying ponies and stuff.

Awsome song and very sobering. Most people think the song is about gloryfying America, when it's actually about how poorly treated the Vietnam vets were.
