Landlord123 Â Â 10 #1 Posted March 17, 2015 Hi just wondered if anyone knows what they are doing with the grass verge just up from turf tavern where the Xmas tree gets put? I know they have just put an extra turning lane to enter the shell petrol station but it now looks like they maybe putting parking bays where the afore mentioned verge is now hard standing. No one seems to know what's happening but I think parking bays might be great to overcome lack of parking and encourage people to use the local shops. Anyone??? SpeedwayDan   10 #3 Posted March 17, 2015 Yeah they're moving that side of the road into the old verge to make room for the right turning lane. It's all being done under the name of Key bus route improvement works.  http://sheffielddemocracy.moderngov.co.uk/documents/s15743/Appendix%20A.pdf
 Share this content via...
Angus Prune   10 #4 Posted March 17, 2015 It's all part of a scheme aimed at improving reliability of the 52 bus route by helping to ease traffic congestion along Handsworth Road. The new part-time traffic lights on the Parkway slip road are part of it too.  The current works are to widen the carriageway in order to accommodate the right-turn lane which Bruce_Shark mentioned.  Plans can be seen here: http://sheffielddemocracy.moderngov.co.uk/documents/s15744/Appendix%20B.pdf    EDIT: Beat me to it! They did that before they started the road works and made a good job of it.
 Share this content via...
yorky15 Â Â 10 #8 Posted March 18, 2015 Â The horse trough has already been moved it's just been moved further back from the road. It would have been a shame to lose it again
 Share this content via...

Mumma4 Â Â 10 #11 Posted March 19, 2015 I use Garry's butchers every week and am struggling to park at the moment there. Better parking would be great. I'm gonna walk this week but it's not gonna be fun carting a massive sack of potatoes home under the pram
 Share this content via...
SILLY Â Â 10 #12 Posted March 20, 2015 That hasn't been used for the last couple of years. Â The electricity supply to the lights is no longer working and they haven't got the money to have it replaced/ repaired. They still have the tree and Carols but without the lights.
