Hi Everyone

Long time lurker here. I've decided to get more involved with this community.

Okay. First need to get this off my chest......

I've lived in Mosborough village all my life - long before the so called townships were built. There's no denying that the village has lost its charm - but I'm aware things change and we move with the times.

BUT..... Dog mess is now a huge problem here - to the extent that it's impossible to walk on the pavements without watching every step you take....it's everywhere!!!

But it gets worse. For some reason that I cannot quite believe dog owners near St.Marks church now actually bring their dogs into the church grass area and actually encourage them to do their business there!! Absolutely shameful. I'm not even the slightest bit religious, but even I would never ever stoop to such disgraceful acts. All of those who I see (there are several!!) I know none of them so can only assume they have moved into the area quite recently. The irony for me is that the church offers a great focal point in the village and Imagine gave the village a certain charm for them to want to live here....so they then go and let their dogs Sh#t everywhere.

The vicar has put signs up stating no dogs allowed but the owners are clearly illiterate as they just ignore and carry on.

I'm tempted to video them all and put it up on YouTube. Who knows it may go viral!

Dog owners tend only to pick up their animals mess if they think somebody is watching them! Even then they hang the blue bags off trees in the woods. £250 pa dog licence is what is needed and the revenue ploughed back intp cleaning up the streets

The dog owners you describe are the minority and I do pick up any dog poo that is in easy reach of my dogs poo, if it will fit in the same bag, it then goes in the bin or home.:)

I pay lots of council tax and the council can't even be bothered to pick litter up, so I have no faith in their ability to pick poo up even with some extra money.

I'm not sure if they are in a minority. My neighbour takes his dog in his car to the local park and lets it crap there, which is disgusting. I regularly see dog walkers just walk on and leave their dog's crap if they think no one is watching them. If they see someone is watching them, then they make a piecemeal attempt to look as if they are picking it up, usually just waving the bag over it and then putting it in their pocket.

It's time for cctv in neighbourhoods, the council paying someone to upload offenders to the internet and making shedloads of money from great big fines generated.

Well, I really don't agree with the minority bit.

Just this afternoon when I collected my son from school, a woman with a small dog who had collected her child from school stopped the flow as we were all making our way down the paths as her dog decided it needed to go...so she just let it!! And then walked off!! As you can imagine all the kids running out of school......how many will have stepped in that!!

Mosborough never used to be like this. It's embarrassing to think what must others passing through think of us. All because of bone idle selfish dog owners.

Personally I think the council should hand out mandatory fines on a percentage of any dog owners annual income if caught fouling public areas.

It has to stop!!

Owners should be forced by law to take more responsibility of "THEIR" dog.

As for fouling in parks....

That really is revolting. Last year we were at our local park and a dog walker allowed his dog (a bitch) to urinate everywhere. To our horror children playing nearby doing forward rolls rolled straight through it - the young childs T-Shirt was soaked in bitch urine!!! and the owner saw it but never once apologised!!!

What did you want him to do about his dog having a wee???? Pick it up???

I always pick up poo but there is absolutely nothing you can do about wee....I actually cannot believe what you have said there!!

The park in question was clearly built for kids to play - the owner should not have allowed his bitch to wander around urinating everywhere.

We all know bitch urine kills grass, and has been linked in the past to causing blindness in children from parasites.

So it isn't just a harmless "Wee" as you're clearly trying to make out.

You said 'local park' which doesn't specfically suggest a children's park, also it's an old wives tale that bitch urine kills grass, some bitches does and some dogs does but not all of either sex and cannot be generalised.

There are parasites in many things, and blindness is more directly linked to certain bacteria which is more commonly found in puppy faeces.

I am completely against people not picking their dogs poo up, it's selfish, dirty and unhygienic but expecting someone to stop their dog from doing a wee as this is also the way they mark something is just beyond unrealistic.

Time to start REALLY enforcing the fines, anyone else here noticed that on this forum it's a disgrace to have kids in public but dog crap every where is fine? ???

Very true.
