Socialist Worker Party

Recommended Posts

Maybe far left parties might keep hold of their deposits if they were to stop bickering with each other over minor points of ideology and work together more?

Far left, Far right, In the middle. Wouldnt it be nice if everyone could get on?

Dunno. Don't care. Their days have gone.

No discussion of the SWP and and various splinter groups can be considered complete without a link to this scene from Monty Pythin's Life Of Brian... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gb_qHP7VaZE

I had a debate with someone on another thread and it got me questioning my own views. Is there a point to the Socialist Worker Party. It seems quite top down in its leadership as the message is the same where ever you go. Is it run by one man or a group of men (or women)? Do they do any good. They dont stand for elections they just amass lots of signatures for things. So what good do they do?

Make your own mind up. :)

Ask George W Bush and his pet, Mr Blair.

No, I'm asking you

The reason for the SWP is to promote socialist ideology. However, at this point it has to be mentioned that there are many far-left splinter groups who all argue over what that actually means.

The question I would ask of the SWP and other similar groups is why, as a political party they don't stand for elections very often. It's very exasperating to see far left groups railing against the likes of UKIP in Sheffield town centre but not standing against them in elections, which would give people an actual alternative.

I think they are actually communists and not socialists

Idiots more like. They live on a different planet where anyone to the right of Ghandi is a Nazi.

I remember reading about a female member of the SWP being sexually assaulted by someone high up in the organisation, but rather than going to the "capitalist police" () the matter was dealt with in some sort of in-house kangaroo court.
