Halibut Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 HOW WORRYING IS THAT IN THIS DAY & AGE ? In the grand scheme of things, not very.
gnomi Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Had reason earlier today to ring the famous "101" because I was suspicious about a Slovakian plate car , the officer said that as no crime seemed to be involved they could do nothing , ok I dare say I can accept that ! BUT ...... the worrying thing for everyone !! I told the officer the registration of the vehicle & he told me there was no trace of this vehicle as it was foreign ! Now here's the worrying bit , these vehicles can park where they like , go through speed or red light cameras & they cannot be issued a ticket for the offence because there are no records that it even exists !!! What if you were to witness a "hit & run" incident where a person was left seriously injured involving one of these cars , imagine you were close enough to get the registration number & informed the police (or it was captured on cctv), they wouldn't have a clue where to look for it , if it was that serious , they can dump the car & will never be traced !! HOW WORRYING IS THAT IN THIS DAY & AGE ? This may have been the case with the car involved in the hit and run on my son last week. There was always two options, the witness wrote it down wrong or it wasn't licenced. ---------- Post added 14-03-2015 at 11:20 ---------- In the grand scheme of things, not very. Until it's one of your kids who becomes a hit and run victim and the driver can't be traced.

Are traceable cars any less likely to maim or kill?
Mikes-joiner Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Are traceable cars any less likely to maim or kill? Idiot..........
gnomi Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Are traceable cars any less likely to maim or kill? of course not, but the drivers can be found and dealt with.
tzijlstra Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 of course not, but the drivers can be found and dealt with. What I fail to see though, with all due respect as I am aware you have been through a rough patch (I hope your lad is doing better!), is how a forum post about Slovak cars in Pagehall relates to the incident your son was involved in? I thought it occurred on Commonside and the driver/passenger was a woman who was late taking her kids to school? There is some 3 to 4 miles between the two places as a crow flies.

It's not related in terms of the incident involving my son but it's related in that the Page Hall car involved may be un licenced It's nothing to do with the area or nationality of the car, I was purely picking up on the fact that it was untraceable. Untraceable cars are harder to find in the event of an incident.

Just wanted to clarify that it isn't a problem with foreign cars, but a problem in general. Still too many uninsured drivers around as well (one has to wonder whether the cretin knocking your son over was uninsured).

Any cars that are not legally on our roads are a problem! In my sons case, the car was not foreign and was being driven by a white British male.
lyndyloo Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 They would if they were being raced on the streets like they do in page hall. You've noticed the speeds have you heard the reving ?
