the_rudeboy Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Thanks for the post, but i was after the Grafters originals...may have to get them online, but wanted to try them on first Thanks The DM ones are rather minty and do lack the traditional monkey boot style. ---------- Post added 13-03-2015 at 21:13 ---------- Have you tried Jay Jays on London Road ?

FIRETHORN1 Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Oooh! monkey boots! This brings back some memories! I used to absolutely love my monkey boots as a young teenager in the early 70's! The tradition at the time was to spray them with metallic paint - silver if you were a Wednesday fan and gold if you were a United fan. (Mine were silver). We would then strut about wearing them with our "Skinners" - sort of baggy-legged jeans, with turn-ups, worn at half-mast, displaying about 6 inches of colourful horizontally-striped sock between the top of your monkey boot and the beginning of the bottom of your trouser leg. (A bit like "The Bay City Rollers" - but even worse)! I remember that my mum and dad would cringe at the sight of me and be embarrassed to be seen in the streets with me. Looking back, I'm not surprised -we must have looked absolutely ridiculous - but at the time, all my mates and I dressed the same and we thought we were the biz! Then again, at various points in my formative years I also wore Sta-Prest, Ben Sherman's, Fred Perry's.... a Trevira skirt, a "tonic" suit.... Oxford bags, high-waisters, platform shoes with six inch heels and four inch platforms..... glitter nail-polish and iridescent eye-shadow. The 70's was certainly the decade that fashion forgot....but it was also huge, enormous fun....as I recall it. Eeeeh - those were the days! :D:D

My OH is between sizes anyway, so he orders a size larger and then just inserts the appropriate number of insoles so that they fit.
Mecky Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 TK Maxx sometimes have them in. Personally I prefer dessies which are more comfortable
