rubydoo1 Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has any advice. We are having to leave our current rented home and are moving with family for around 6-12 months, unfortunately due to my family having a none cat friendly dog we cannot take our much loved little cat with us We desperately don't want to rehome her for good as she is like a member of the family. We have asked everyone we know & nobody can take her for us temporarily. I was wondering if there is such a thing as temporary foster homes for cats? We would pay for the right person & would obviously cover all costs related to her including providing her food etc. I know it's a massive long shot but really have no idea what else to try. If anyone has any suggestions then please let me know. She is a lovely 6 year old cat and is great with children. Thanks x
denlin Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 There is a great cattery in Shiregreen that may foster her for you
Chez2 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) Does any of your family or friends have a shed or room for a shed to keep your cat in? Our cats used to holiday in a shed with an attached run. We had thick tree branches in the run for the cat to climb or sharpen their claws. The run was covered so the cat could sit in there during the day. This would be fine for the spring / summer as long as you put a mesh screen door behind the main door so you can ventilate the shed during the daytime. An outhouse, conservatory or garage could have a cage inside with a cat flap to an outside run. Edited March 9, 2015 by Chez2 typo
rubydoo1 Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 Thanks for your replies. Denlin, do you know the name of it please? Chez, I hadn't thought about that. I will have a think and ask around thanks. Anymore ideas/suggestions greatly appreciated
Chez2 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 It would be cheaper for you to buy the shed and run rather than pay for a cattery for that length of time.

rubydoo1 Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 Yes sue has very kindly offered to have Ruby if I buy a shed for her, this is definitely an option to consider. I would be slightly worried how she would adapt to being outside especially in the colder weather as she is such a lap cat usually! She loves human company. I just feel so torn on the whole thing and am gutted that we can't keep her with us. A cattery is out of the question I think, as most are charging £150 a month.
