Alan Ladd Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 That would be the austerity measures brought in by the government then. Yes, to address the incompetent handling of the economy by the previous Labour administration. Typical Labour council action sack hard working men and women keeping our city safe at night. As long as they maintain their jaunts abroad at our expense that's all that matters.
truman Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 That would be the austerity measures brought in by the government then. If you look at the salaries paid by the council in the thread AnnaB started then there doesn't look to be much austerity in the council upper echelon ..
philyyy Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 I do not work for the council. Are council workers immune from gut feeling? I am not sure a group of drunken youths would bother me but can see how they might worry some folks. The lack of the city ambassadors does not neccesarily make the place feel less safe.

The night security men were not Ambassadors, they actually did something. I walk through the city most nights late on, it does not feel as safe as it did when these men and women were present. Fact.

Doesn't have to be drunks, they can be nobody at all in sight but I still get a eerie feeling sometimes
philyyy Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 You can't say fact based upon a perception. You shall have to disagree with me on this it seems. Never seen, perceived or had a problem.
Alan Ladd Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 It didn't used to bother me until I got older, frankly you feel a bit vulnerable, I don't know how ladies feel about the situation but for what it costs, I think we are entitled to some protection at night as we go about our business in the city centre.
Daven Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 You work for the council do you? ---------- Post added 06-03-2015 at 11:21 ---------- ...................go on then..........? Stop smoking thus negating the need to go outside .

Isn't this what the Police are for?

I know what you mean about feeling vulnerable. I doubt many of my age (early 60's) would consider visiting the city centre of an evening. Not just Sheffield....ANY city centre.
